InterImage supports OMB's Plan to Reform Federal IT
In October, InterImage’s CEO, Leslie Steele participated in a task force intended to provide Vivek Kundra, the Federal CIO, with recommendations on how to improve Federal IT. As a result of that work, she was invited to the December 9 White House briefing during which Vivek and Jeff Zients, the Chief Performance Officer, announced a 25 point implementation plan to reform Federal IT management.
Ms. Steele commented that, “It was gratifying to see recommendations made by the task force reflected in the Plan announced today. And, if the government is in fact successful in implementing this plan, federal IT management will indeed dramatically improve. This is a bold initiative, and if successfully implemented will represent a historic change in the Federal approach to IT.“
Also gratifying, Ms. Steele commented, was that fundamentals now advocated by OMB have been brought by InterImage to its customers for many years. In particular, modular development with clear alignment to business objectives is deemed critical. Other defined success factors include capturing user feedback through an iterative process, preventing scope creep by locking down requirements, and dynamically moving resources through project stages. This new Plan, and the intent to push this guidance out to all major IT projects, will help InterImage as the way we conduct projects is viewed as the standard.
