Project: Development of the Fleet & Family Support Management Information System (FFSMIS)

The Navy required a next generation, NMCI compliant system Fleet & Family Support Management Information System (FFSMIS) to support the varying Program Management, activity management, and reporting needs of headquarters personnel, Regional Managers, and the Fleet & Family Support Centers (FFSCs) and Family Advocacy Program (FAP) Centers at 71 worldwide service delivery sites. InterImage designed, developed and deployed a secure, web-based application that provides an intuitive interface for users to enter and update data on customers, cases, activities, and employees as well as generate a wide array of reports, both pre-defined and ad hoc, from an integrated database. The system provides a resource for all 1800 staff members and assists clinicians and program managers with their day-to-day activities associated with case and program management. It also provides local, regional and corporate supervisors with reporting and statistical analysis capabilities to monitor and track the delivery of services.

InterImage began the project with a thorough business analysis and requirements gathering phase. We defined business and technical requirements that would support and streamline existing workflow and business processes, key to managing clinical and non-clinical services and education and training courses offered to service members and their dependants. InterImage also specified hardware and COTS components. InterImage applied a Rapid Application Development methodology, componentizing the FFSP’s business processes into core modules. This modularization enabled requirements and design to proceed in parallel in iterative cycles – decreasing overall design and development time. InterImage also integrated 40 separate databases and created interfaces to external Navy enterprise systems. We configured supporting hardware and software. We also integrated COTS for cost effective implementation of robust reporting capabilities.
